Sick little boy

I woke up this morning at 7:45am to sound BJ in the shower and Billy throwing up in this bathroom. I got out of bed to rush to him and soon realized that I wasn't going to be able to help him. If I did, I knew I would soon be there right next to him with my head in the toliet. Oh the joys of early pregnancy! Good thing BJ was still home so that he could step in and help when I couldn't. Billy ended up spending a good portion of the morning in the bathroom. At one point I went to check on him because he had gotten really quiet and this is what I found (see picture below).

I felt so bad for him. I carried him to bed and he ended up sleeping until 11:15am. He was feeling a little better as the day went on though. He's just lucky to have a great auntie, Vicki who brought him over some Sprite. I'm sure it helped. She also brought us dinner, which I really appriecated!

We are finally expecting Baby #2

On December 5, 2009 we found out I was pregnant with our second child. To say we were excited is an understatement. We've been trying to have another child for almost four years. Now that this moment is finally here, I'm pretty nervous. Billy on the other hand can't wait for his baby brother or sister to come. He is going to be such a great big brother.

After we found out our news, we didn't tell our families right away. I really wanted to wait until our Christmas gatherings to break the news. However, there were some people who did find out. We told Billy not to share our "family secret" with anyone but it was just killing him so we let him tell one person. That person just happened to be Spence (Patti's son and Billy's closest buddy). He told Spence on our way to school that day. I thought for sure Spence wouldn't be able to help himself and that Patti would know by the end of that day. However, he never told her. That was until the next day when I received a phone call at work that went something like this (to the best of my memory).

Patti called and said, "Is there something you wanted to tell me?" She said that Spence was laying on the floor with baby Samantha that morning when all of the sudden he said, "mom, can I call Michelle. There is a secret I want to tell you but I promised I wouldn't so I need to call Michelle to ask if I can tell you". Patti told him that I was at the hospital and that he couldn't call me. Spence then said, "She's at the hospital???" Patti, "yes, she's at work at the hospital". Spence, "You mean she is ALREADY having the secret?" Patti must have looked confused because then Spence went over to the manger scene, picked up baby Jesus and said, "I can't tell you the secret but she is having one of these (as he holds up baby Jesus)"

When Patti related this story to me I was almost in tears laughing. Leave it to Spence to come up with something like that. So, Patti was the first family member to find out that we were expecting.

My due date is August 8th and I've been so sick with morning, afternoon and evening sickness. It's so much worse this time than it was with Billy. I'm hoping this means we are having a girl. :o) However, we will be happy with a boy or a girl. I just can't believe that after all these years we are finally going to have another child. Billy will be turning six in April so there will be a large age difference but that's okay. I will find out the sex of our baby around the third week in March and we can't wait!!! We've already started thinking of how we are going to move things around to make room for a nursery in, what is now, the office. Billy's just excited to move the computer into his room. He's already telling his teachers at school that this is going to happen when our baby comes. Now, we just have to figure out where all the book shelves are going to go.

I'm finally Blogging

I'm not really sure why it's taken me so long to create our family blog but I've finally done it! I'm still trying to figure everything out but at least I've got it started.
